Like in most Italian families, my Grandma was the center of the culinary movement in our household—from fresh pastas to homemade cookies, her recipes and food were, of course, delicious.
I remember visiting her in Brooklyn, NY. She would take me shopping with her, a real treat reserved for only some of her grand children interested in cooking and baking. She took her task of shopping very seriously and taught me to look for the right ingredients for the cookies—from flour to chocolate chips.
She would say, “Not all flour, chocolate and cocoa are alike.” The local shopkeepers all knew my grandmother. They hand selected items just for her. She would only buy the best for her family recipes.
I have tried to carry out my grandmother’s traditions, making her secret recipes that have resulted in some unique, savory and delicious cookies. Try them and I promise they’ll taste delicious. Each one unique and homemade with wholesome goodness that can only be described as my grandma’s cookies.
